Hilary Kraft
Hilary provides consulting, coaching, and training to clients in the areas of change management, communications, organizational effectiveness and human resources management.
Hilary’s career has been a combination of consulting and entrepreneurship. After obtaining her MBA from the UCLA Graduate School of Management, Hilary was a consultant for the Evaluation and Training Institute in Los Angeles and then in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles for the Hay Group and Mercer Consulting, two large international human resource consulting firms. While at Hay and Mercer, she helped Fortune 500 and public-sector clients evaluate compensation plans; build human resource programs around the key competencies of high-performing employees; design and improve performance evaluation practices; conduct employee opinion surveys; and identify opportunities to improve organizational design. After 13 years of helping other companies, Hilary took a break from consulting to join her family in launching a consumer direct-mail art supply business. Over 10 years, they grew the start-up venture into a $3 million company that employed 25 people and served thousands of customers worldwide. This experience helped Hilary understand the multi-faceted challenges of running a business and gave her the insight that actually managing employees is much more complicated than consulting to others about how to do it. Having worked in these two different worlds, Hilary founded HRK Consulting to blend her experience in large company consulting with the insights gained from being an entrepreneur. Today she draws on this dual perspective to help her clients improve communication, teamwork and engagement among employees, producing meaningful results that leave both workers and company owners feeling more satisfied and productive. Hilary’s clients have spanned many industries including manufacturing, financial services, non-profit, healthcare, hospitality and government. In addition to her MBA from the UCLA Graduate School of Management, Hilary holds a BA in Social Ecology from the University of California, Irvine. She is a certified Professional Coach through the College of Executive Coaching and a Prosci Certified Change Practitioner. |
Richard Kraft
Richard helps clients develop clear, concise and effective written messaging on multiple platforms including websites, email newsletters, printed matter and marketing materials.
After receiving a BA in Communications from California State University Northridge, Richard began his career working for Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment as a Production Assistant. Following his first-day assignment picking E.T. up at the airport (in a crate), he worked there for three years on numerous projects before leaving for the world of indie films and television production, eventually becoming a Researcher and Segment Producer for the CBS program Rescue 911. Richard then became Director of Development for Nancy Jacoby Productions where he helped create five television pilots for network TV and syndication. After then becoming a writer for the NBC children’s show Name Your Adventure for two seasons, he departed the world of entertainment to become an entrepreneur. In 1997 Richard joined his family to launch Sticker Planet, a consumer direct-mail art supply business. Over a ten year period, they grew the start-up venture into a $3 million company that employed 25 people, had an annual circulation of nearly one million catalogs and served thousands of customers worldwide. Launched at the beginning of the e-commerce revolution, the company also became a leader in the crafting and scrapbooking space with an innovative and dynamic web presence. Among Richard’s contributions to Sticker Planet was copywriting for the company’s catalog, website and marketing materials, creating a unique tone with a creative and playful style that became a hallmark to customers. Writing for his own business gave Richard insight into the process of finding the right voice to convey a company’s messaging across multiple platforms. Richard now divides his time between teaching high school students, running the Sticker Planet store at the historic Los Angeles Farmers Market and working with both businesses and non-profit organizations to create strong written communications that help them connect with their customers, clients and constituents. |
