Selected training programs
We offer training programs designed for employees at all levels, including non-supervisors, first-level supervisors, managers and executives. These are some of our most popular programs. We also custom design programs to fit the needs of specific clients.
Change management
Change is a constant in today’s business environment, yet research reveals that two-thirds of all change projects fail to meet their intended objective. The most common reason change efforts fail is because companies do not address employees’ reactions to change. Whether change is on a large scale (e.g. mergers, acquisitions, relocations, new ERP systems) or on a smaller scale (e.g. a new manager, department restructuring, job or role changes), individuals must adapt to a new uncertain future and are typically uncomfortable doing so. Consequently, productivity declines and rumors can develop and distract employees from their work. Addressing the people side of change helps managers minimize disruptions and more quickly achieve their business goals. Some of the topics addressed in our change management classes include:
· The case for change management
· A structured approach to change management
· The importance of leadership during change management
· Communicating about change
· Creating a sponsorship roadmap
· Coaching and training in change management
· Managing resistance and reinforcing change
Communication skills
Improving communication skills for difficult conversations
Effective communication skills underlie all of our work relationships, and yet most people have never studied how to communicate effectively. As a result, critical issues often go unaddressed and many times misunderstandings create problems that derail progress towards goals. This course provides tools for conducting effective conversations with co-workers, supervisors and subordinates to address important matters while maintaining respect for the other person.
Communicating for supervisors
To be an effective supervisor, one must be able to develop, coach and motivate employees, and yet most people who are given supervisory responsibilities have not had any prior opportunity to build these skills. As a result, they struggle with the challenges of creating and managing a productive and effective team and of having constructive job performance conversations. This course addresses these specialized communication skills necessary for all supervisors and managers.
Behavioral event interviewing
Turnover often results when employees do not exhibit the behaviors on the job that are valued and expected in a particular company. This course teaches an interview technique that allows you to assess whether a job candidate possesses the desired behaviors and determine if a person is likely to be a good fit within your company’s culture.
Leadership skills
Business planning
All too often, senior managers become consumed by daily tasks and operational responsibilities and do not make the time to collaborate together in defining company goals and plans. This course builds a sense of team among a company’s managers as they focus on identifying and clarifying their vision, goals and objectives and roles in executing their plans. The length and format of the course can vary based on the topics of interest and needs of a particular company.
Identifying and defining company values
When executives want to build or change company culture, they begin with company values. But which ones reflect what makes a company unique, and then how should those values be defined so that employees know what kinds of specific behaviors are expected? This course helps executives and managers define company values that are more than just motherhood and apple pie.
A company’s senior management team can work together in this course to define the values, although an even more effective way is to get all employees involved in doing so. Thus, the process and these classes can be tailored to a particular company’s desires.
Aligning employee efforts to drive company performance
This program addresses the importance of setting clear goals and objectives to direct employee efforts towards helping a company achieve its short-term and long-term plans. It will provide a framework for managers to develop cascading and interlocking company and departmental goals and will also address how to build accountability for meeting job objectives in employee performance review processes.
Effective management skills
Creating productive meetings
Leading meetings and facilitating meetings are two skills that all leaders need, but not all leaders have. Furthermore, facilitation is a special kind of leadership that enables meeting participants to feel a sense of ownership in meeting results. Meetings can either be productive and energizing or a waste of time and frustrating. Effective meetings enhance teamwork and focus participants on accomplishing joint goals. This course teaches skills to effectively lead and facilitate meetings.
Time management
Time is a precious commodity, and learning how to effectively manage it is key to being an impactful and productive leader. This course provides information, tools and techniques to guide managers towards owning their day. Participants will examine the concepts of urgency vs. importance and the relationship between time spent on activities and goal achievement.
